Cricks vs Los Andes
Cricks started the game
with the wind and quickly got into their stride with Bill Ward and Joe
Howard going close on numerous occasions. Speedy Bill Ward scored the
first after slipping through the Los Andes defence to open the scoring.
Cricks missed further chances before Jim Green scored the second from
twenty yards, the ball sailed over the Los Andes keeper into the net. The
Cricks had full control of the midfield and scored the third goal before
half time, again from the lively Jim Green who slotted in for his second.
Cricks going in three goals up at the break. The second half got going
with Los Andes pressing at the restart and the Cricks defence was
breached, when a long range shot deceived the Cricks keeper Richard Hall
when the ball bounced awkwardly ending up in the net. A sudden change in
the weather with hailstones, after this had blown over, Cricks again took
control of the midfield and midway through the second half. Cricks fourth
goal was scored by Jim Green, his third, (hatrick hero). Ben Wakeford
replaced Joe Howard in attack and was soon into the action, when John
Scantleburys long range effort had rebounded from the crossbar with the
Los Andes keeper well beaten, Wakeford spurned the chance by shooting
wide. Bill Ward got his
second goal from good build-up by the Cricks. Jim Green scored his
fourth after beating the Los Andes defence and keeper to head the ball
home at ground level. Substitute Wakeford scored the seventh from a cross
by Jim Green the ‘Man of the Match’ who worked tirelessly up and down
the left flank. In defence Patrick Mills, Cass, Salmon Ali and Mark Burns
stood firm and in midfield Steve, Simon and John Scantlebury had control
throughout the game. Team. Richard Hall,
Patrick Mills, Marks Burns, Salmon Ali,
