Mill Hill Village 4th XI vs NLCC 4th XI

MIlL HILL VILLAGE 4XI V NORTH LONDON 4XI

SATURDAY 15 MAY

North London won the toss and not surprisingly decided to field. Jack Grylls opened the bowling and bowled 5 overs of consistent line and length and was unfortunate not to take a couple of wickets. Ken Tuitt in his first game for North London quickly adjusted to the conditions and took an early wicket he also was unlucky not to pick up a couple more. Leighton replaced Grylls, using his wealth of experience kept the preasure on Mill Hill Village, with one classic double appeal, taking 5 wickets for 40 runs off 12 overs Aqbal another debutant replaced Tuitt and bowled a couple of overs of Medium pace left arm which on this wicket was too short, before reverting to left arm spin which proved far more effective. Copsey bowled a short 3 overs spell taking 1 wicket Grylls and Tuitt returned to the attack, Grylls taking a well earned wicket.

Mill Hill Village 98 all out off 36.2 overs.

Locke and Emms opened the batting for North London with Locke an early casualty to the lack of pace in the wicket. Emms was scoring freely, but as is often the case, a Joke bowler claimed his wicket, but not before he had scored 43 runs. Waddy Gedroyce looked comfortable but soon followed Emms having scored a solid 23 runs. North London 78 for 3 and cruising. North London 90 for 8 and flakey If Michael Hubbard a late replacement hadn't got his head down and played cricket, scoring 10 solid runs, we could have lost this match. However a late partnership from Grylls and Leighton did the job, with North London winning by 3 wickets and claiming a 20 point win.
